How to get Certified in Cloud Computing

How to get Certified in Cloud Computing

Now that you have decided to switch careers or build a career in cloud computing, you need to know exactly what you need to do to get certified.

While a lot of students are under the impression that certifications are not needed if they can get on-site training, this is not the case. Currently, employers are prioritizing candidates with certifications that validate their skills.

Now your next question would be how to get certified in cloud computing. Don’t worry, this guide will help you understand exactly what you need to know and do to earn your cloud computing credentials.

1. Start with the “Why” and the Fundamentals

Now, before you go straight into giving a certification exam, you need to understand the basics and develop a mindset that understands the “whys” of cloud computing.

This includes the difference between Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).

Now, before you think that you need a computer science degree and need to invest four years in college, you don’t, all you need is to get trained with an accredited cloud computing provider.

2. Choose Your Specialization Track

This is a big one and will not only determine what certificate you need to aim for but also the trajectory of your cloud computing career.

If you are unsure what cloud computing path is right for you, you can always reach out to the training provider, and they will help you pick the right one that aligns with your goals. For instance, at CCI Training Center, students can choose from three industry-leading pathways with the help of student support:

  • Track I: Microsoft Azure – Ideal for those working in corporate environments that already rely on Microsoft 365 and Windows Server.
  • Track II: Amazon Web Services (AWS) – Perfect for those wanting to master the world’s largest and most widely used cloud platform.
  • Track III: Google Cloud (GCP) – The go-to for professionals interested in high-level data analytics, Kubernetes, and AI-integrated systems.

3. Map Out Your Certification Journey

Once you’ve chosen a platform, you follow a “step-up” approach. You shouldn’t jump into an Architect-level exam on day one. A structured cloud computing certification program will prepare you for the following sequence:

The Foundational Tier (The Starting Line)

These exams validate your basic understanding of the cloud’s value proposition and core services.

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C01)
  • CompTIA Cloud Essentials+

4. Practice in Simulation Lab

This can be labelled as one of the biggest mistakes students make during their training, which is passing a certification exam by using their memory without ever working on a console.

Sure, you’ll gain the certification, but you won’t be able to do much in real life.

Therefore, make sure you get at least 10-15 hours of training in virtual labs. After practice labs, you should be comfortable with:

  • Provisioning a Virtual Machine (VM).
  • Setting up an S3 Bucket (Storage) in AWS.
  • Configuring a firewall to allow specific web traffic.
  • Managing a database in a cloud environment.

5. Leverage Career Support

Now, here’s the reality of the tech world: Getting certified is the first half of the battle; getting hired is the second.

Because the cloud computing field evolves so quickly, you will need additional support to understand how to create your resume so that it isn’t discarded by ATS, and how to ensure that you nail the interview.

This is where training programs with dedicated career support come in. By training with them, you can ensure that you are not just getting certified but also getting prepared for the job interview.

Final Note

Getting a cloud computing certification isn’t difficult, but you do need to understand exactly what to do and how.

The fastest way to get certified in cloud computing is to enroll in a structured online training program.
